Remediation is the integration of one medium into another. In Remediation: Understanding New Media, J. David Bolter and Richard A. Grusin explain that new media often rework content from older media like television, radio, and print, but this process isn’t one-sided—new media also influence old formats. For example, modern TV screens and newspapers increasingly resemble websites. Remediation and media convergence are key forces reshaping media and communication during this technological shift.
To explore this, I will remediate my argument essay into a new medium, such as a well-designed website. This project will help me understand how audience, medium, and content influence presentation. I can use a variety of assets—videos, images, text, or animations—to reimagine my essay effectively, maintaining its core argument while presenting it in an engaging, innovative format.
